Dedo Lounge Chair

Dedo is a lounge chair that commands the space around it. A sculptural solid wood frame, left fully exposed, with woven rope providing a suspended base for loose cushions. The frame does the talking. Oak or walnut, paired with fabric or leather cushions. Available as a lounge chair, easy chair, and footstool.

  • Dedo is a lounge chair you notice from across the room. Its solid wood frame is shaped with rounded, flowing joints and left completely uncovered, giving the chair a sculptural presence whether someone is sitting in it or not.

When the frame was first finished during development, it stood on its own as an object. Traditional upholstery would have hidden it. Instead, woven ropes were strung across the frame, creating a suspended, slightly flexible base that supports loose cushions while keeping every curve and joint visible. The contrast between taut rope and soft pillow is deliberate: it gives Dedo its visual tension and makes the structure part of the experience rather than something to cover up.

The frame is solid European oak or walnut, with the fluid transitions between components shaped by hand using a router. The cushions are loose and removable, filled for a relaxed, sinking comfort. They come in a range of fabrics and leathers from the Gazzda material collection.

Dedo was designed by Salih Teskeredžić in 2015 as Gazzda’s first lounge chair. The name means “grandfather” in Bosnian, after a memory of sitting and watching the world go by. It is a chair made for exactly that.

  • Frame
Dedo’s frame is made of solid oak wood. Elastic cotton ropes connect the backrest with the frame, providing cushion support. Felten gliders are attached to the chair legs and are suitable for most flooring options, while the footstool features a curved rocking base and does not include gliders.

    Upholstery
The seat cushion is attached to the frame body, while the back cushion is connected to the backrest frame with belts. The lounge chair includes an additional height-adjustable head cushion. Two material options for upholstery are available: leather or fabric, while the cushion belts are always in leather options.

    Finish
Wooden parts are available in two plant-based Hardwax oil finishes (colours), which retain the wood’s natural state, as either white or natural oil.

Meet the designer

Salih Teskeredzic

Dedo was designed by Salih Teskeredžić in 2015. At the time, GAZZDA’s workshop had no CNC machinery, so the frame’s fluid joints were shaped using a router and traditional hand tools. Salih developed the chair without technical drawings, working directly in the workshop, making each piece and adjusting by eye until the proportions and balance felt right. This hands-on method produced a frame that was admired as a standalone object before any thought was given to seating comfort, a moment that shaped the entire direction of the design.

Dedo’s Creation

The development was hands-on from the start. There were no technical drawings. Each piece was made and adjusted by eye, testing what balanced and what felt right.

When the wooden frame was finished, the team stepped back and liked it as a sculpture on its own.
